In March, as a part of WorldView’s ongoing commitment to serve as mentors to area students interested in IT professions, WorldView again hosted a group of 50 computer science students from Godwin High School and Henrico’s Advanced Career Education Center at Hermitage who spent the morning in our offices learning about various aspects and applications of information technology. They witnessed two professional office environments in action, sat in on demos given by WorldView staff, and enjoyed a presentation by VCU professor Dr. Bennett Ward from the School of Engineering. VCU instructor, Will Shuart, and Luck Stone supervisor, John Blackmore, also gave a presentation and hands-on demo on drone technology. They then took a walk to Carmax Shockoe for an office tour and demo on Product Development before a pizza lunch and Q&A wrap up. It was an interesting, informative morning for students and guests alike.
WorldView will continue working with area students in the future with the hope that the knowledge and exposure they gain from such experiences will inspire and motivate them to continue pursuing their passion for innovative technologies.
