Company History

WorldView Solutions was born out of a desire to build geospatial solutions and a notion to change the way customers perceive their work and the world around them.
2000 – Founded
Founder Jamie Christensen decides to take what he’s learned in the public and private sectors (much of which was what not to do when running a consulting firm) and start his own company as a sole-proprietor. He sets up office over his garage in Chesapeake, Virginia, and Worldview is born.
2003 – Hires First Employee
WorldView hires its first employee and moves into office space behind a gas station in Chesapeake. Most customers are non-profits and small Virginia localities that need help building geospatial data for their organizations.
2005 – Grows to Five Employees & Opens Remote Office in Richmond
The firm grows to five employees and opens a remote office in Richmond. Based on this growth in Central Virginia, WorldView is awarded a long-term services contract with Henrico County and, as part of the contract, agrees to strengthen its presence in the Richmond area.
2006 – Relocates to Richmond
WorldView relocates its staff to a renovated tobacco warehouse in downtown Richmond. In the years ahead, the company expands its specializations to encompass geospatial application development and geospatial consulting services, in addition to its traditional data development projects. This is also a period of significant growth in acquisition of state government and corporate clients.
2010 – Expands Office to Accommodate Fifteen Employees
Having made significant inroads with state, federal and corporate clients, and swelling to fifteen employees, an office expansion is required.
2013 – Additional Expansion as Company Doubles in Size
With an expanding state and federal government customer base and nearly thirty employees, a third expansion in its Shockoe Bottom office space is completed. The firm has a growing reputation for geospatially enabled web interfaces that emphasize usability.
2015 – A Short Move
Given projected growth, a now landlocked office space and a generous property owner, a new space on the existing site is configured to better facilitate productivity, collaboration and work-life balance throughout the expanding WorldView Team.
The Future
Despite the changes in customers, projects and services, the company continues to grow, primarily by providing geospatial solutions that enrich our customers’ worldview.
