September 2
Using automated feature extraction software, WorldView has been selected to develop a comprehensive Land Use / Land Cover dataset for the Rivanna River Watershed in western Virginia, with a goal providing more effective watershed management, land conservation, and land use planning tools for the project partners. Project partners include StreamWatch, The Nature Conservancy, Albemarle County, and the Rivanna River Basin Commission.

August 19
The City of Lynchburg, Virginia, has contracted with Worldview Solutions to provide GIS services related to the migration of the City from the Intergraph Geomedia software to an enterprise ESRI ArcGIS platform. Tasks include updating the City strategic plan, geodatabase design, data migration, web and desktop application development, staff training, and ongoing technical support.

August 4
In partnership with the Virginia Commonwealth University Center for Environmental Studies, WorldView is developing a centralized data management application for pollution complaints. The application will be customized for deployment within VADEQ’s local area network and will provide DEQ staff with a browser based application for entering and modifying pollution realted issues.

July 31
WorldView Solutions has been awarded a contract to develop the City of Waynesboro’s water, sewer, and storm water utility database. WorldView will integrate existing source data into the system, supplemented with field verification of water and storm water features using sub-foot accuracy GPS data capture.

June 24
Caroline County, Virginia, has contracted with WorldView to provide three years of GIS development and support. WorldView will work closely with the County on the design of its GIS database, conversion of hard copy mapping into the GIS database, desktop software tool development, web mapping application design, staff training, and ongoing system maintenance.

May 18
As part of its Rapid Open Space Assessment partnership with The Conservation Fund, WorldView is developing a geodatabase of ownership information for a sixteen County regional land use assessment in northeastern North Carolina.

April 16
The Virginia Commonwealth University Center for Environmental Studies has contracted with WorldView Solutions on the development of an online interactive Underground Storage Tank workbook. The application will provide VCU, VaDEQ, and the EPA with self-certification software that is similar to popular consumer certification products, like TurboTax.

March 31
WorldView has contracted with Goochland County, Virginia, on a utilities GIS database design and data conversion project. WorldView’s staff will field-verify, using sub-foot accuracy GPS, the location and status of all sewer and water utility structures in the County. This data be integrated into an ArcGIS geometric network, using ESRI’s water and sewer data model.

March 11
As part of its ongoing GIS maintenance and support contract with Henrico County, Virginia, WorldView has been contracted to scan, georeference, and review the County’s water and sewer map books. The goal of the project is to integrate any remaining data from the map books into the County’s enterprise geodatabase and replace these hard copy products with digital mark-up and visualization tools using ArcGIS.

WorldView Solutions has been selected as ESRI’s New Business Partner of the Year for 2007 for the Washington, DC regional office. WorldView will receive the award on March 15th at the ESRI Worldwide Business Partner Conference in Palm Springs, California.

February 18
The Northwest Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission has selected WorldView as its vendor for a conversion project in Clarion, Crawford, Forest and Venango Counties of more than 135,000 tax parcels. WorldView will also provide cartographic map design, editing tools and training for each County.

January 25
The Virginia Geographic Information Network has contracted with WorldView on the development of a statewide cached dataset for the 2006 / 2007 Virginia Base Mapping aerial photography. WorldView will use ArcGIS Server to generate twelve levels of image caches, configure ArcGIS Server and the caches at VGIN, configure content security for map services, and providing ongoing technical support for the caching effort.

January 18
York County, James City County, and Dinwiddie County, Virginia are the latest localities to choose WorldView and its sister company, MapsDirect, to develop parcel portal web sites for the localities. MapsDirect offers WorldView clients a fast, reliable and simple set of tools for deploying applications with ArcGIS Server.

January 5
J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College has contracted with WorldView Solutions on the development of GIS student database. In addition to mapping and aggregating nearly 50,000 student data records, WorldView will integrate demographic data and provide J. Sargeant with demographic analytical services.

News - 2007

December 11
WorldView has been awarded a contract by Powhatan County, Virginia, to provide parcel conversion and other GIS services for the County. In addition to parcel data conversion, WorldView will develop zoning data, parcel maintenance tools, training, and an ArcGIS Server web mapping application.

December 6
Spotsylvania County is working with WorldView on the process of migrating from a Tax Map ID Number to a Geographic Parcel Identification Number (GPIN). Updating the GIS database and ArcGIS tax parcel maintenance extensions are part of the migration process.

November 15
The Conservation Fund has partnered with WorldView on the implementation of its enterprise GIS initiative. WorldView will develop and host ArcGIS Server based applications for the Fund, including GIS data portal and web mapping applications. As part of the project WorldView will manage several terabytes of imagery data, covering half of the United States, using ESRI’s Image Server software.

November 12
Working with the Virginia Commonwealth University Center for Environmental Studies, Worldview is completing a Version 3.0 upgrade to the INSTAR (Interactive Stream Assessment Resource) database application, including enhanced end-user search and querying capabilities.

October 31
Working with its partner, Prism Contractors and Engineers, WorldView Solutions is developing a comprehensive parcel database for the City of Franklin. This includes the development of all tax mapping data using plats, deeds, and tax maps as well as the development of a Intranet mapping application for City staff to access the new parcel data.

September 6
Alleghany County, Virginia, has awarded WorldView a contract to build its GIS database and to host its internet mapping web site. The County plans to use the web site as a portal for users interested in ownership data and the County and as a resource for County staff to access critical mapping data.

September 1
In its continuing efforts to support its clients in Virginia, WorldView will provide emergency services related services to Greensville County and Accomack County. For Accomack County, WorldView will develop a transportation network database and will run a drive time analysis on the County’s EMS stations. For Greensville County, WorldView will develop a dynamic large format E911 map.

August 24
Zimar and Associates, a premier resource management company based in northern Virginia, has contracted with WorldView to develop its enterprise GIS database. WorldView will install and configure Zimar’s geodatabase using ArcGIS Server and SQL Server and will synchronize this database with the company’s current GIS inventory management system, including GPS data collection.

August 17
The Virginia Marine Resources Commission has contracted with WorldView Solutions to develop its Enterprise GIS. Project tasks include database design, data integration, application development, and training. WorldView will provide the Commission with a final product built completely on ESRI’s ArcGIS Server software.

July 31
Working with the Virginia Commonwealth University’s Center for Environmental Studies, WorldView is developing a second phase of the Virginia Department for Environmental Quality’s GEMS mapping web site. GEMS is the portal to dozens of mapping layers and is managed by the department’s Coastal Zone Management Program. The next phase of the web site will include mapping themes, dynamic administration of the site, and a more streamlined interface.

July 15
WorldView Solutions has partnered with Atlas Geographic Data on the development of a deed-based parcel database for Hyde County, North Carolina. WorldView’s production team will work with Atlas to convert all of the County’s parcels from original plats, deeds and other survey documents. Data will be delivered using the statewide hard copy and soft copy cadastral data standards.

June 11
WorldView Solutions has been selected by Charlotte County, Virginia, to provide tax parcel mapping services, including data integration, automated hard copy mapping and training. The project focuses on conversion of the County’s existing AutoCAD data into an ESRI geodatabase format.

June 6
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership has awarded WorldView a contract to develop a statewide GIS database for the Virginia Department of Historic Resources.

June 1
A number of localities have recently turned to WorldView’s mapping team to provide GIS data development, analysis, and maintenance. Clients include Prince George County, the City of Hopewell, the City of Norton, Dinwiddie County, and the City of Franklin. Projects include crime analysis support, parcel data maintenance, E911 routing development, and geodatabase design services.

May 18
The City of Danville has selected WorldView Solutions to assist the City’s IT staff in the continued expansion and management of the City’s GIS under a five year GIS support services contract. WorldView will initially provide the City with enterprise GIS database design, integration and deployment using ArcGIS Server.

April 19
Under its GIS Support Services contract, WorldView Solutions has been contracted by the Henrico County Department of Public Utilities to provide ongoing support and maintenance of its Geographic Information System. This includes supporting on-site management of DPU’s GIS data, developing GIS tools, models and workflows for DPU users, and providing data auditing, quality control and quality control.

February 13
The City of Poquoson has entered into a partnership with WorldView Solutions to provide a GIS database design, conduct parcel data conversion, collect external GIS data resources, and develop an internal and public mapping web site for the City. The completed product will provide the City with the data, processes, and tools it needs to move forward with its goal of improving business processes, customer interactions, and data analytical capabilities. WorldView will complete all project deliverables over a four month schedule.

February 1
Working with its partner, The Conservation Fund, WorldView Solutions will provide GIS services to the Civil War Preservation Trust (CWPT) to develop rapid battlefield assessments for the Petersburg, VA vicinity and to provide updated map data for battles in Spotsylvania County, VA. The Conservation Fund and WorldView have extensive experience in rapid battlefield assessments, having completed nearly 50 battlefield assessments for the CWPT over the last four years.

January 31
In close collaboration with its partners at the NASA Wallops Flight Facility, WorldView has provided final delivery of an SDSFIE compliant ArcGIS Server database and an open architecture ArcGIS Server application. The data and tools developed by WorldView will allow NASA staff to effectively administer and distribute critical mapping data over its secure web application, using off the shelf tools within ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop software. WorldView completed all project tasks over an aggressive six month schedule. WorldView staff will now provide several days of on-site training for NASA staff and will support the facility’s ongoing base mapping efforts in 2007.
