Promotion Alert!

Please welcome Chris Rubis who recently was promoted from summer intern to GIS Technician!  Chris is a recent graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University where he studied Environmental Studies. He created a heat map of forest fires in Virginia as one of his final projects which sparked his interest in GIS.  Chris has been working on several projects for 911 addressing this summer and is now one of our PSAP specialists.

Fun Facts about Chris:

What do you wish you knew more about? Programming.  I would use it for GIS, but I also want to create my own programs to do audio and video manipulation.

What stereotype do you completely live up to? I’m in a rock/funk band called Caterpillar Trap and play bass.  I’m definitely the quiet bassist type.  I think I’m what everyone imagines when they think of a bassist in a band.

Is there something you like to do the old-fashioned way? When I’m at home, I always hand grind my own beans and make pour over coffee using a Chemex.  It makes really good coffee!
